Awards

1st, 2nd & 3rd place awards by age group for 5K (male & female). Overall 1st place for 5K & 1 mile (male & female), top dog, top stroller. 5K participants must wear a chip to be eligible for awards. No award duplications.

Sleep In

The sleep-in option allows registrants to sit out while helping us move forward. Sleep-in participants will receive a Roof Dog Run t-shirt and an event packet. No excuses, no worries, and every dollar makes a significant impact toward building a new orphan home:

$100 to install a door
$250 to build a wall
$500 to lay down a floor
$1,000 to provide a bathroom
$2,000 to provide a bedroom

Roof Dog?

Since 2005, the annual Roof Dog Run has been held by Roof Dogs from the Plano area as a fun family event which raises funds to benefit orphaned children in Peru and raise awareness for international needs. In Arequipa, some dogs
actually live on the rooftops of their owners' homes, serving as protectors over their family's household.

Inspired by the canines, a group of missionaries from Christ Church Plano adopted the name for themselves as a way of expressing their love and desire to protect the children of Casas Hogares children's homes. Casa Hogar San Jose and Casa Hogar Sagrada Familia are the homes of orphaned children ranging in age from 3 to 18. The Roof Dogs visit the orphanages annually and continue to be moved by the gentle spirit that these children exhibit.

All proceeds from the Roof Dog Run contribute to the Casas Hogares to build a new orphanage. The Casas Hogares provides shelter, food, clothing, and other daily necessities; as well as giving a hope for the future to children who have been abused, abandoned and neglected.

The Holy Land trip scheduled for November 2-11, 2010 is almost full. If you are considering going with Fr. David and Fran Roseberry, you are invited to an informational meeting on Tuesday, August 10 at 7 p.m. in Room 200 of the Adult Education Building. The following is Fr. David’s commentary on past trips:

It is the trip of a lifetime for the many who have taken it. It deepens nearly every aspect of our humanity and of our faith. The blessings of the trip are manifold.

You draw closer to God and to the greatest story ever told. You will come to love our Lord even more. You will gain great joy in walking through the land of the Bible. Your faith will be strengthened literally, ‘beyond belief’. You will deepen your trust and confidence in the bible. You will learn first hand the sad accounts of the violence of the land from ancient times to today.

It is all right there…and it is there for us to explore together. Ask the nearly 150 people at Christ Church who have been…sometimes more than once. It will be a blessing.

Children’s Summer: Camp Sunday & GAP45

GAP45 Summer
It’s back for 2010! Students will meet each Wednesday night from 6:30 to 8 p.m. from July 7 through August 11 in the Archgate Center, Room 4208. All students finishing 4th & 5th grade are invited to come and bring friends for food, games and a lesson.

Camp Sunday
Camp Sunday meets every Sunday at 9:15 and 11 a.m. throughout the summer. The Children’s Ministry interns are leading our students in a high-seas themed version of Bible Max. We encourage all students to participate in this fun exploration of the Bible.

Join us Sunday mornings to focus on understanding the foundational book of Genesis. Great worship, dynamic lessons, discussion, fun and fellowship.
Help out at Middle School youth group
Wed, June 16 – August 11, 6 p.m. Archgate Youth Building

This is a great opportunity for high school students to impact the lives of middle school students by serving and modeling Christ likeness for younger students. Our Teen Helpers are core part of the success of our Wednesday night program.

After helping out at Middle School Youth Group, we will gather at a household to discuss and interact with the book of Genesis.
Leader Lunches
For the Class of 2011 and 2012
Thu, June 17 – August 19, 1 p.m., local restaurant

Leader Lunches focus on developing student leaders in the youth ministry. A thriving youth ministry must have solid, energetic leadership from the youth themselves. In these meetings we will equip and guide our older youth so that they can step into leadership opportunities within the ministry during our school year (6/17-8/19).

We’re heading to the beach where we’ll meet up with guest speaker, Tom Richter. Also, Josh Havens and the Afters will be around to provide music.
