Men's StudyBegins August 24
Tuesdays at 7 a.m.
Fellowship Hall

On Point trains men to be solid, faithful, biblical leaders in their homes, churches and communities. Verse by verse, chapter by chapter, the On Point study opens up the scriptures. And with sound teaching, humor and life-application, helps men grow in faith.

This fall On Point explores the book of 2 Samuel. This Old Testament book will challenge and inspire believers as it deals honestly and openly with the dark side of man. Throughout the fall, this study will confront issues facing the lives of all men and will point them to the truth of the gospel and the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.

Stepping Up: A Journey Through the Psalms of Ascent

Stepping UpThis is a Bible study of Psalms 120-134 taught by Beth Moore. Traveling pilgrims sang these psalms both on the way to the great festivals of the Lord and as key elements of the worship at those festivals. Just as a song or poem can express feelings of fear, doubt, hope, and joy, these 15 psalms model how we can voice our own petitions and praises to our God, who is always available and ready to hear us.

Explore the major feasts of Israel and journey with Beth through this seven-session study. Themes of unity, joy, gratitude, redemption, repentance, the power of blessings, facing ridicule, and more are explored in detail. Modern-day believers in Jesus Christ can learn much from these treasured Psalms in their journey toward greater intimacy with God.

Living the Abundant Life by Growing in Christian Virtue

A truly transformed Christian life is a virtuous life that reflects God through Jesus and by the power of the Holy Spirit. Transformation comes as a result of acquiring holy habits—another name for virtues. However, the virtuous life is not just doing good things. The virtuous life is a deeper life—a life lived for God, in union with Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit. Not long ago, virtue and virtuous lives were raised up as models for all family life, friendship, marriage, businesses, citizenship and statesmanship. Virtue was the foundation of good law-making. Tragically, virtue has been down-played, forgotten, even ridiculed throughout our society. What a tragedy! Dr. Colleen Campbell, author of The New Faith and former speech writer for President George W Bush, said, “All virtues lead to God and are part of His perfect goodness and love.” Come, prepare yourselves for the only life that will satisfy, keep you safe, and fill you with joy—a life of virtue—the Christ-life!

Acquiring virtue is a process. Participants are asked to make a nine-month commitment to the study and practice of virtues.

Sunday Morning Studies

Posted August 11, 2010

Beginning August 22, three offerings for spiritual growth will be available on Sunday mornings at 9:15 a.m.

360° | The Book of Galatians

Sundays at 9:15 a.m.
Adult Ed. Building, Room 200

Deep… Engaging… Relevant… Come explore the unexplored contours and perspectives of Scripture and theology. 360° digs down into the core of belief and faith seeking a fuller and wider understanding of God’s Word in order to help God’s people live into the truth of the Scriptures on a daily basis.

The first study tackles the surprisingly real, shockingly honest book of Galatians. The letter is brimming with passion, sarcasm, anger, and inspiration. It is filled with the deepest of theology and the most relevant of exhortation. This study promises to challenge and engage those who desire a genuine in-depth look at the Scripture that impacts everyday life.

The Book of Acts

Sundays at 9:15 a.m.
Adult Ed. Building, Room 204

With the gift of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, the apostles and disciples boldly proclaimed the risen Christ as Lord and Savior. In spite of persecution, imprisonment and martyrdom the church in Jerusalem and Samaria grew in numbers and many were saved. In the second half of the Acts of the Apostles (13-28), the proclamation of the Gospel focuses on the ministry of the Apostle Paul and his companions. This in-depth study and discussion of these chapters examines Paul’s tireless promotion of the Gospel during his three missionary journeys, his arrest in Jerusalem and imprisonment in Caesarea and Rome.

The Books of Ezra and Nehemiah

Sundays at 9:15 a.m.
Adult Ed. Building, Room 203

This study of the books of Ezra and Nehemiah emphasizes the restoration and renewal of God’s people. The class focuses special attention on the ways in which God’s people today be revived and refreshed in worship, in relationships and family, in their communities, and deep in their souls by the power of the Holy Spirit. This is a study for all who need to be restored and who seek to be a people after the heart of God.
