Music and Worship
Worship Ministries
Each month, volunteers fill 480 roles in our four weekend worship services. Flexible scheduling and training are provided. It is a beautiful way to serve with your family and friends! Contact Brenda Gribbin or fill out a worship team form to join us.
- Altar Guild
Behind-the-scenes altar preparation includes the detailed care of vessels, linens and Eucharistic elements. This faithful group works in small teams, prayerfully supporting our clergy for all Chapel and Sanctuary services. - Acolytes
Ages 8 to 18 serve as torch bearers, servers and crucifers in Sanctuary worship services. - Chalice Bearers
Chalice bearers serve the cup, or wine, at Eucharist. Those gifted for reading scripture aloud may also serve as lectors, reading the lesson during worship. After approval and licensing by the Office of the Rector, chalice bearers may also serve as Lay Eucharist Ministers, distributing the host, or bread, at Eucharist. - Ushers
Ushers perform a variety of duties which include distributing bulletins and collecting the offering, but all are designed to meet and anticipate the needs of worshipers. - Greeters
Greeters offer a Sunday morning welcome to worship, and provide information and directions as needed at main entrances.
Music
- Choir Membership Requirements
The choir is a gift-based ministry. Musicians are called to provide leadership for the purpose of inspiration and edification in the worship experience of the larger body of believers. As such, musicianship and vocal skills are confirmed prior to participation.Interested singers are welcomed throughout the year by private audition and returning singers re-audition annually. Singers are asked to demonstrate pitch matching, blending, rhythm and melodic exercises, as well as basic score identification. Choir membership is open to high school students and older.
- The Choir Season runs August 8, 2010 – June 5, 2011.
- Weekly rehearsal commitment is Wednesday evenings 7-8:30 p.m.
- Weekly worship commitment is Sunday mornings 11 a.m. (10:30 a.m. rehearsal).
- The choir also sings seasonal concerts and other worship services throughout the liturgical year.
