Special Worship Services
What to Expect
Worship is the central part of our life together to celebrate what God has done for us. Worship is intended for the honor and glory of God and to provide opportunities to hear and learn from the Word of God. We offer multiple service times to accommodate almost any schedule, and communion is celebrated at each services.
Visitors and members should feel welcome, comfortable and inspired. While there isn’t a posted dress code, most attire is a mix of business casual and Sunday best. But if you would like to wear jeans and a t-shirt, that would be fine, too.
Our services provide a blend of traditional and contemporary aspects of worship. At all worship services at Christ Church, we use the 1979 Book of Common Prayer. The purpose of liturgy is to involve people. The first half of the service includes the opening greetings, the reading of Scripture Lessons, the sermon and singing. The second half of the service includes prayers, the liturgy of the Lord’s Supper, and Holy Communion.
Our chapel seats only about 200 people when completely full, so the setting is small and intimate. Some people prefer the relaxed feeling of the chapel over our larger sanctuary. The services are shorter than in our sanctuary, mainly because Communion takes less time with fewer people. The chapel service at noon on Tuesdays is the smallest and most informal of our services. It is attended primarily by the Christ Church staff, but is also open to the public and visitors are warmly welcomed. Business people often join us during their lunch hour.
Sanctuary services are not necessarily more formal, but they are more widely attended and feel more grand overall. The worship space is much larger, services tend to be longer and feature arrangements of music from a vocal team or solo artists with orchestra or band accompaniment. The Sanctuary seats about 1,400 when completely full.
For those with children, we highly encourage you to take advantage of nursery and sunday school. Our children’s programs serve two important purposes. Parents are allowed to fully engage in worship without distraction. And children are allowed to learn a age-appropriate christian education in a fun, loving environment tailored just for them. Also your child’s safety and well-being are a high priority. We offer secure check-in for all our kids, and caregivers are carefully screened with background checks. Nursery care is available during weekend services without reservation.
Holy Communion

Holy Communion, also known as Holy Eucharist, the Lord’s Supper, the Divine Liturgy, the Mass, and the Great Offering, is the central part of the act of worship at Christ Church. The Holy Eucharist was instituted by Christ and it recalls Jesus ‘words and actions at the Last Supper. Celebrating the Eucharist renews and strengthens our union with Christ and our fellow Christians.
How to Receive Holy Communion
At Christ Church, communion is open to baptized Christians from any denomination. Those wishing to receive Communion, should go forward at the usher’s signal and kneel at the altar rail. They should hold out their hands to receive the bread. They may receive the wine by drinking from the common cup or they may dip their bread into the cup. Those not desiring wine may simply cross their arms and the wine will pass by. Those choosing not to receive communion may remain in their seats or may come forward (as for communion) for a blessing by kneeling and crossing their arms across their chests.
