Psalm 63. What does it mean to desire God? Fr. Jonathan examines the nature of longing and how, even when we achieve our dreams, we desire more. In the Biblical image of the wilderness, we see how weariness can bring us to our greatest longing, God, who alone can offer sanctuary.
Revelation 2. Fr. Paul examines the sin of contempt and its prevalence in our nation, including the church. But we have hope, for Jesus meets us on the day of reckoning, using the consequences of sin to turn us back to God. Repent and return.
Matthew 1. "Great stories deserve great beginnings." Fr. Jonathan shows the genius in the tedium of Matthew's Gospel genealogy: the epic drama of Israel's failure reflects our own tragic shortcomings and reveals how our Messiah has adopted our mess.
