Serving Together: 5,640 Meals Made for Our City

Feed the City Story-16

On the Saturday morning just before Holy Week, the Fellowship Hall was filled with joyful energy, as parishioners arrived with arms and bags full of sandwich-making supplies—ready to provide meals for those in need in our community.

Nearly 200 people gathered for Feed the City, a fast-paced, hands-on service event that felt as much like a celebration as it did a mission. Tables quickly turned into workspaces for sandwich assembly. Bread was stacked, sandwiches made, chips portioned, and clementine oranges rolled from one set of hands to another. Music played loudly in the background, setting the rhythm for a morning filled with laughter and conversation.

Children became the heartbeat of the room—darting between tables as runners, delivering supplies, carrying finished bags, and keeping the energy high. At every station, volunteers paused just long enough to write notes of encouragement on paper sacks—simple messages of care that would travel with each meal into the hands of someone in need.

By the end of the morning, the church had assembled 5,640 meals.

What began as a room full of supplies and willing hands became something tangible—meals prepared not just with efficiency, but with intention. Each one a small act of love, multiplied thousands of times over.

Before dispersing, the group gathered for a photo—one last moment to capture the joy of what had been shared. Then, together, volunteers loaded the meals into a van, where the Feed the City team would carry them out into the community, placing them directly into the hands of neighbors in need.

It was a simple morning, in many ways. But it was also a glimpse of the kingdom of God—everyday people, working side by side, offering what they had, and watching it become more than enough.
