Saturday Prayers

Morning

Opening Sentence

Philippians 1:2

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

O Lord, open our lips;
     And our mouth shall proclaim your praise.

Psalm 119

161 Rulers have persecuted me without a cause, * but my heart stands in awe of your word.

162 I am as glad because of your promise * as one who finds great spoils.

163 As for lies, I hate and abhor them, * but your law is my love.

164 Seven times a day do I praise you, * because of your righteous judgments.

165 Great peace have they who love your law; * for them there is no stumbling block.

166 I have hoped for your salvation, O Lord, * and have fulfilled your commandments.

167 I have kept your decrees * and I have loved them deeply.

168 I have kept your commandments and decrees, * for all my ways are before you.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
     as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.

A Song of Creation

Glorify the Lord, all you works of the Lord, praise him and highly exalt him for ever. In the firmament of his power, glorify the Lord, praise him and highly exalt him for ever. Glorify the Lord, you angels and all powers of the Lord, O heavens and all waters above the heavens. Sun and moon and stars of the sky, glorify the Lord, praise him and highly exalt him for ever. Glorify the Lord, every shower of rain and fall of dew, all winds and fire and heat, Winter and summer, glorify the Lord, praise him and highly exalt him for ever. Glorify the Lord, O chill and cold, drops of dew and flakes of snow. Frost and cold, ice and sleet, glorify the Lord, praise him and highly exalt him for ever. Glorify the Lord, of nights and days, O shining light and enfolding dark. Storm clouds and thunderbolts, glorify the Lord, praise him and highly exalt him for ever. Let the earth glorify the Lord, praise him and highly exalt him forever. O men and women everywhere, glorify the Lord, praise him and highly exalt him forever. Let us glorify the Lord: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit; praise him and highly exalt him forever. In the firmament of his power, glorify the Lord, praise him and highly exalt him forever.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy Name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

Collect

Almighty God, who after the creation of the world rested from all your works and sanctified a day of rest for all your creatures: Grant that we, putting away all earthly anxieties, may be duly prepared for the service of your sanctuary, and that our rest here upon earth may be a preparation for the eternal rest promised to your people in heaven; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Personal Prayer

Here you may include your petitions, supplications, intercessions, and thanksgivings (1 Timothy 2:1). Pray for the world, the nation, the local community, the church, your neighbors, those who suffer, and those in any trouble.

Grace

2 Corinthians 13:14

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us all evermore. Amen.

Noon

Opening Sentence

Psalm 117

Praise the Lord, all you nations; laud him, all you peoples. For his loving‑kindness toward us is great, and the faithfulness of the Lord endures forever. Hallelujah!

O God, make speed to save us.
     O Lord, make haste to help us.

Psalm 126

1 When the Lord restored the fortunes of Zion, * then were we like those who dream.

2 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, * and our tongue with shouts of joy.

3 Then they said among the nations, * “The Lord has done great things for them.”

4 The Lord has done great things for us, * and we are glad indeed.

5 Restore our fortunes, O Lord, * like the watercourses of the Negev.

6 Those who sowed with tears * will reap with songs of joy.

7 Those who go out weeping, carrying the seed, * will come again with joy, shouldering their sheaves.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
     as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.

The Second Song of Isaiah

Isaiah 55:6-11

Seek the Lord while he wills to be found; call upon him when he draws near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the evil ones their thoughts; And let them turn to the Lord, and he will have compassion, and to our God, for he will richly pardon. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, nor your ways my ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts. For as rain and snow fall from the heavens and return not again, but water the earth, Bringing forth life and giving growth, seed for sowing and bread for eating, So is my word that goes forth from my mouth; it will not return to me empty; But it will accomplish that which I have purposed, and prosper in that for which I sent it.

Amen.

Collect

Pour your grace into our hearts, O Lord, that we who have known the incarnation of your Son Jesus Christ, announced by an angel to the Virgin Mary, may by his cross and passion be brought to the glory of his resurrection; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

Personal Prayer

Here you may include your petitions, supplications, intercessions, and thanksgivings (1 Timothy 2:1). Pray for the world, the nation, the local community, the church, your neighbors, those who suffer, and those in any trouble.

Let us bless the Lord.
     Thanks be to God.

Evening

Opening Sentence

Isaiah 6:3

Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God of Hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!

Praise the Lord.
     The Lord’s name be praised.

Psalm 119

169 Let my cry come before you, O Lord; * give me understanding, according to your word.

170 Let my supplication come before you; * deliver me, according to your promise.

171 My lips shall pour forth your praise, * when you teach me your statutes.

172 My tongue shall sing of your promise, * for all your commandments are righteous.

173 Let your hand be ready to help me, * for I have chosen your commandments.

174 I long for your salvation, O Lord, * and your law is my delight.

175 Let me live, and I will praise you, * and let your judgments help me.

176 I have gone astray like a sheep that is lost; * search for your servant, for I do not forget your commandments.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
     as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.

Magnificat

Luke 1:46-55

My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior. For he has regarded the lowliness of his handmaiden. For behold, from now on, all generations will call me blessed. For he that is mighty has magnified me, and holy is his Name. And his mercy is on those who fear him, throughout all generations. He has shown the strength of his arm; he has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. He has brought down the mighty from their thrones, and has exalted the humble and meek. He has filled the hungry with good things, and the rich he has sent empty away. He, remembering his mercy, has helped his servant Israel, as he promised to our fathers, Abraham and his seed forever.

Amen.

Collect

O God, the source of eternal light: Shed forth your unending day upon us who watch for you, that our lips may praise you, our lives may bless you, and our worship on the morrow give you glory; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Personal Prayer

Here you may include your petitions, supplications, intercessions, and thanksgivings (1 Timothy 2:1). Pray for the world, the nation, the local community, the church, your neighbors, those who suffer, and those in any trouble.

Grace

Romans 15:13

May the God of hope fill us with all joy and peace in believing through the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Bedtime

Opening Sentence

Psalm 134

Behold now, bless the Lord, all you servants of the Lord, you that stand by night in the house of the Lord. Lift up your hands in the holy place and bless the Lord; the Lord who made heaven and earth bless you out of Zion.

Our help is in the Name of the Lord;
     The maker of heaven and earth.

Psalm 124

1 If the Lord had not been on our side, * let Israel now say;

2 If the Lord had not been on our side, * when enemies rose up against us;

3 Then would they have swallowed us up alive * in their fierce anger toward us;

4 Then would the waters have overwhelmed us * and the torrent gone over us;

5 Then would the raging waters * have gone right over us.

6 Blessed be the Lord! * he has not given us over to be a prey for their teeth.

7 We have escaped like a bird from the snare of the fowler; * the snare is broken, and we have escaped.

8 Our help is in the Name of the Lord, * the maker of heaven and earth.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit:
     as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.

Keep watch, dear Lord, with those who work, or watch, or weep this night, and give your angels charge over those who sleep. Tend the sick, Lord Christ; give rest to the weary, bless the dying, soothe the suffering, pity the afflicted, shield the joyous; and all for your love’s sake. Amen.

Nunc Dimittis

Luke 2:29-32

Guide us waking, O Lord, and guard us sleeping; that awake we may watch with Christ, and asleep we may rest in peace.

Lord, now let your servant depart in peace, according to your word. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared before the face of all people; to be a light to lighten the Gentiles, and to be the glory of your people Israel.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit: as it was in the beginning, is now, and will be for ever. Amen.

Guide us waking, O Lord, and guard us sleeping; that awake we may watch with Christ, and asleep we may rest in peace.

Grace

The almighty and merciful Lord, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, bless us and keep us, this night and evermore. Amen.
