Passage: Matthew 3:1-12

Dean Paul describes the hope of Advent: Jesus, coming to repair the irreparable. We, like so many in our troubled world, long for true repentance--a life-lasting turn toward goodness and generosity--but find we ever fall short. No amount of tinkering can salvage our lives. Jesus must remake us from the foundations up, and so we put our hope in his baptism. Christ, fill us with your Holy Spirit.
